KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Police detained 17 members of ANNISU-R, a student organization close to the CPN (Revolutionary) led by Mohan Baidya, who protested in front of Singha Durbar– the principal secretariat of the government.
SP Kumud Dhungel, who is also spokesperson of Kathmandu Police Range, said that they were detained as they were demonstrating against the School Education Bill in front of Singha Durbar-- a prohibited zone for protest activities-- on Friday afternoon.
According to SP Dhungel, 17 demonstrators including the coordinator of ANNISU-R, Milan Rai, were arrested. They have been taken to the Singha Durbar Police Circle.
