KATHMANDU, Oct10: Chairman of the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) and former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa blamed the leaders of the political parties for not paying serious attention to end the present political deadlock despite their frequent rhetoric for consensus.

Talking to media persons at his own residence in the capital on Sunday, Thapa said the leaders have been busy in blame games instead of untying the knots of the country’s problems by forging consensus among the major political parties.[break]

"No serious talk has been started so far regarding constitution-writing, peace process and formation of the government," he said. "Only the parties have forwarded their agendas in the name of consensus."

The former prime minister suggested that the parties should initiate for the serious talks to end the political deadlock.

Commenting on the misbehaviors of the UCPN-Maoist cadres against Indian ambassador in Solukhumbu district, Thapa said misbehaviors against Indian ambassador Rakesh Sood is uncivilized and against the diplomatic norms. He said, ‘An ambassador is not merely an individual; he is the representative of a nation.

Such activities fuel the problems instead of resolving the misunderstanding.’

Thapa said that participation of the former king and royal family members in different religious programmes and their involvement in social welfare by founding the trust is just an effort to make a part of society. Their involvement in social and religious activities should not be taken otherwise, he added.
