Parliamentary committee seeks suggestions of political parties on cooperative fraud investigation

KATHMANDU, July 2: The parliamentary special committee formed to investigate the embezzlement of funds in various cooperative institutions has decided to seek written suggestions from political parties.

The Committee Chairman Surya Thapa announced that they have requested political parties represented in the House of Representatives to provide written suggestions to resolve the issues facing the cooperative sector.

“We have decided to write to political parties, especially those with national recognition, to offer their insights and solutions focused on the four-point mandate given to us by the House of Representatives,” Thapa said.

The committee has been engaging with various bodies to identify problems and solutions in the cooperative sector. It has held discussions with officials and employees of the National Cooperative Federation, the Central Cooperative Savings and Credit Union Limited, and the National Cooperative Bank Limited.

Thapa said, “The eighth meeting continued our efforts to understand and find solutions to the problems in the cooperative sector.”

The committee has scheduled its next meeting for July 4.
