Parki clocked 15 minutes 5.6 seconds to finish ahead of Raj Kumar Bista and Hari Kumar Rimal of Army in the men´s race. Bista took 15 minutes 14.5 seconds and Rimal completed the distance in 15 minutes 20.2 seconds. [break]
In the women´s section, Budha secured the top spot clocking 19 minutes 8.3 seconds. Geeta Khatri of APF (19 minutes 25.1 seconds) and Sangita Khadka of Bijeshwari High School (19 minutes 31.6 seconds) took second and third positions respectively.
The selection meet is organized to pick the best 12 athletes from 30 events for Mission SAG targeting the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG). "The best 12 performers will be picked from 30 different events at the end of the meet," said Sushil Narsingh Rana, the chief coach of athletics. "The athletes will be selected on the basis of performance rather than results. We have set certain criteria for the Mission SAG camp. Whoever meets the criteria or is seen having potential will be selected for the camp."
Yam Sajan Sunar claimed the men´s 200m gold with a timing of 21.9 seconds. Ashish Chaudhary of Lalitpur clocked 22 seconds to finish second and Min Bahadur Chaudhary secured bronze with a timing of 22.5 seconds.
Dil Maya Karki of APF won the women´s 200m race clocking 26.5 seconds. Durga Devkota (26.9 seconds) and Krishna Chaudhary (27 seconds) -- both from Army -- took silver and bronze.
Bhabindra Giri of Army won the men´s triple jump with a jump of 13.98m. Dilli Khatri of the same departmental team jumped 13.82m to take second position and Chadra Dev Joshi finished third at 13.62m. Keshari Chaudhary of Nepal Police Club won gold in the women´s event with a jump of 11.41m. She finished ahead of Shila Chaudhary of APF who jumped 10.40m.
Mukti Khadka and Som Bahadur Kumal of Army secured gold and silver in the men´s 800m race. Khadka clocked 1 minute 56.6 seconds and Kumal clocked 1 minute 59.3 seconds. Prakash Rai of Solukhumbu finished third on 2 minute 4.9 seconds.
Mana Mati Bista of Police secured gold in the women´s 800m race with a timing of 2 minutes 25.2 seconds. Laxmi Pandey of Army (2 minutes 27 seconds) and Rina Kapali (2 minutes 37.1 seconds) finished second and third respectively.
