Nepali athlete Parki  leaves for Germany to compete in Berlin Marathon

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: Long distance athlete Gopi Chandra Parki was given a farewell today. Parki is going to Germany to compete in the Berlin Marathon. Parki and coach Santosh Shrestha were given a send-off at a program organized here today by the Nepalgunj Marathon.

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: Long distance athlete Gopi Chandra Parki was given a farewell today. Parki is going to Germany to compete in the Berlin Marathon. Parki and coach Santosh Shrestha were given a send-off at a program organized here today by the Nepalgunj Marathon. 


On the occasion, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC) Ramesh Kumar Silwal, President of Creative Hands, the organizer of Nepalgunj Marathon, TS Thakuri, among others extended their best wishes for success to Parki. Both were presented with track suits, bags and T-shirts.

The world-famous Berlin Marathon is being held in Berlin, Germany on September 29. Parki and Shrestha are leaving for Berlin by Qatar Airways flight tonight.


Parki is the winner of the latest edition of the Nepalgunj Marathon. He won a gold medal in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) held in Nepal from December 1-10, 2019. 


At the send-off program, Parki said he would put in his best at the Berlin Marathon.
