KATHMANDU, March 30: Nepal outplayed Malaysia by 19 runs and strengthened its chances of advancing to semifinal round of ongoing ACC Twenty20 match played at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground here on Saturday.
Skipper Paras Khadka chipped in with brilliant 87 runs of 64 balls that included 11 fours and three boundaries to help Nepal set a 164-run target against Malaysia. [break]
Suvash Khakurel made 25 off 23 balls while Binod Bhattarai contributed 20 off 16.
Hassan Ghulam, Shahrulnizam Yusof, KH Durrani and Nazril Rahman took two wickets each for Malaysia.
In reply, Malaysia could only manage 144 runs losing nine wickets in allocated 20 overs with Shafiq Sharif’s 53 runs off 58 balls.
Prithu Banskota and Sanjam Regmi took two wickets each for Nepal while Chandra Sawad , Basanta Regmi and Shakti Gauchan took one wicket each.
This was Nepal’s third encounter with Malaysia with each teams winning one match each. Nepal had defeated Malaysia by 21 runs in the first edition of the tournament in 2007 but lost by six wickets in the 2009 edition.
