KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Prem Prasad Parajuli has been unanimously elected as the chairman of the Valley Special Provincial Committee of the CPN-UML. Parajuli was unanimously elected after Chandra Rijal, another aspirant for the post of chairman, withdrew his candidature.
Parajuli and Rijal were nominated for the new leadership at the convention of the non-geographical Valley Special Province Committee that is ongoing since 6th October.

Similarly, Bidur Karki as the vice-chairman of the Valley Special Committee, Milan Dharel as the secretary, Jitendra Shrestha and Urmila Sunuwar as the deputy secretaries were also unanimously elected by the election committee.
There are eight provincial committees in UML, seven geographical and one non-geographical. So far, six province committee sessions have been held. The Sudurpaschim Province session starts today.
