KATHMANDU, April 16: The prime minister-led Special Committee for the Integration of Maoist Combatants, on Thursday, asked its technical panel to prepare codes of conduct for the combatants and a draft modality for releasing the disqualified combatants from the cantonments. [break]
In the meeting, held at the prime minister’s office, the special committee decided to ask the technical panel to suggest ways on how the released combatants can be rehabilitated into society, according to Chief Secretary Dr. Bhoj Raj Ghimire, who is also the spokesperson for the committee.

The special committee has also decided to provide experts and all sorts of logistical support, as demanded by the technical panel, to accomplish these two jobs. “The technical panel has been asked to submit its report by the next meeting,” said Ghimire.
The technical team is scheduled to visit all the cantonment sites from coming Monday.
According to Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, a Nepali Congress member in the committee, NC members strongly protested the prime minister’s orders regarding the PLA’s participation in the recently held Fifth National Games.
Mahat also said that for the past three months, the NC members have been pressing for the immediate release of the combatants.
