Pandey resigns as chief minister of Bagmati Province after being elected an MP

KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, has resigned from the post after being elected a member of the House of Representatives. Pandey submitted his resignation to the province chief Yadav Chandra Sharma.

KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, has resigned from the post after being elected a member of the House of Representatives. Pandey submitted his resignation to the province chief Yadav Chandra Sharma.


Pandey was elected to the House of Representatives from Dhading-1 in the elections held on November 20. He was sworn in as a member of the lower House of parliament only on Thursday.

Pandey said that he resigned from the post of chief minister of Bagmati Province as he had taken oath as a member of the House of Representatives.


Spokesperson for the Bagmati provincial government, Krishna Khanal, said that Pandey will serve as the head of the caretaker government until a new government is formed.
