KATHMANDU, May 8: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu on Wednesday hosted an alumni gathering for Nepali Army officers who received training at various institutions under the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The event was graced by General Gaurav SJB Rana, Former Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, as the chief guest, while another Former Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri attended as the special guest. A delegation from Pakistan’s National Defence University (NDU), currently visiting Nepal, also participated in the event, according to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu.
In his welcome remarks, Colonel Muhammad Ali Alvi, Defence Attaché at the Pakistani Embassy, highlighted the long-standing military cooperation between Nepal and Pakistan, particularly in the area of training. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support in strengthening the capacity of the Nepali Army through training and professional exchanges.

General Rana emphasized the enduring value of training programs provided by Pakistan, noting their significant contribution to both the professional development of individual officers and the institutional growth of the Nepali Army.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, in his concluding remarks, stated that Pakistan and Nepal share strong and trusted relations rooted in cooperation among their governments, people, and armed forces. He expressed optimism that military-to-military ties between the two nations would continue to deepen.
Ambassador Hashmi also used the occasion to condemn what he described as India’s ‘unprovoked’ aggression, calling it a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty, the UN Charter, and international law. He reiterated Pakistan’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
Participants of the event expressed appreciation to the Embassy of Pakistan for organizing the gathering, which they said provided a valuable opportunity to reconnect and reflect on their experience in Pakistan.
