KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML lawmakers continued to obstruct parliament proceedings for the fourth day on Tuesday demanding dismissal of Defense Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari.

Speaker Subas Nembang adjourned the House meeting and announced the next meeting for Wednesday as lawmakers from NC, UML and other opposition parties hindered the meeting.[break]

NC lawmaker Shovakar Parajuli and Agni Kharel of the UML demanded that the prime minister sack the defense minister immediately and bring outgoing minister Prabhu Sah to book without any delay.

“Anyone would have been handcuffed by now for such remarks against national unity but Bhandari is being left scot free,” Kharel said at the parliament meeting Tuesday.

Both the lawmakers accused the prime minister of trying to protect Sah.

“It seems that the office of the Attorney General has been shifted from Ramshah Path to Parisdanda, Koteshwar [where the Maoists´ party office is situated],” Kharel said.

Both the NC and UML have warned of obstructing parliament proceedings until the defense minister is sacked.
