KATHMANDU, Nov 23: Police have arrested a person who operates hundi and online gambling. Rupesh Shrestha, 48, A resident of Bagbazar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-28, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon on the charges of running hundi, online gambling, cryptocurrency and illegal foreign exchange transactions.
A police team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Shrestha, who was involved in the act, on the basis of information that some people had formed a criminal group and were conducting illegal hundi transactions from various places in Kathmandu without obtaining permission from Nepal Rastra Bank.

It has come to light that Shrestha has illegally conducted hundi, online gambling, crypto and foreign exchange transactions without obtaining a license from Nepal Rastra Bank using mobile apps such as electronic medium CashApp. Police have recovered 8.969 million rupees, 7026 US dollars, three laptops, six CPUs, one teller machine, one CCTV NVR, eight mobile phones, two passports, one citizenship certificate and 64 bank cheques issued at different dates by different persons.
The police said further investigation into the matter is underway.
