KASKI, Oct 9: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kaski, has slapped the Old Lan Hua Restaurant and Bar, Baidam Pokhara-6 with a fine of Rs 200,000. The office slapped the restaurant for selling the water priced at Rs 20 at a higher price of Rs 100 than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). The Old Lan Hua is the oldest chinese restaurant of Pokhara.
Shiva Lamsal, Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, said that action was taken against the restaurant under the Consumer Protection Act after it was found that the water was being sold at a price much higher than the maximum retail price set by the Water Purifier Company. A customer of the same place complained to the administration with a bill of Rs 100 for a bottle of mineral water costing Rs 20.

The local administration reported that the restaurant has been fined as per Section 38 (8) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 and Section 39 (1) (b) of the same Act.
