OHCHR to remain in Nepal till September: PM

KATHMANDU, May 27: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Wednesday announced that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) will remain in Nepal only till September 9.

The UN human rights body´s tenure is expiring on June 9.


“I do not understand why the tenure of the OHCHR should be extended by next three years. The office is temporary in Nepal. The office will be in Nepal for next three months [since June 9],” the Prime Minister said while addressing the ninth anniversary of the National Human Rights Commission in Lalitpur on Wednesday.
