KATHMANDU, Nov 1: Nepal has witnessed a remarkable surge in tourist arrivals, with October 2023 marking a historic milestone. According to data from the Immigration Department, Nepal welcomed a total of 117,306 tourists during the month, as confirmed by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). This figure represents an unprecedented record for the highest number of tourists entering Nepal in a single month.
NTB Director Maniraj Lamichhane noted that the previous record, set in October 2019 with 113,000 tourists, was surpassed this year. The surge in arrivals can be attributed in part to the gathering of non-resident Nepalis in Nepal during this period, who are counted as tourists upon visiting the country.
