Number of males diagnosed with COVID-19 is almost double than that of females in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Jan 1: The number of males infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nepal is almost double than that of females.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 169,748 males and 90,845 females have contracted COVID-19 so far which accounts for 65.1 percent and 34.9 percent respectively. This figure suggests that the number of males infected with the virus is almost double than that of females.

In the past 24 hours, the health ministry has recorded 426 new cases of COVID-19 - 273 males and 153 females.

Likewise, the health ministry also confirmed eight more death cases related with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours along with 784 new cases of recoveries. As of Friday afternoon, Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 1,834 and the recovery tally stands at 253,107.

Similarly, the Kathmandu Valley witnessed 137 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
