NTA, organizing a seminar in the capital on Sunday, discussed its program for the upcoming fiscal year. NTA General Secretary and Chief Coach Deep Raj Gurung informed that the association has planned to build Taekwondo Academy and Complex at Satdobato, Lalitpur as well as regional training halls.[break]
He also made public the schedules for particiation in the international tournaments.
According to NTA, the construction of the proposed Central Taekwondo Complex to be built in five ropanis of land at Satdobato will cost Rs 350 million.
NTA has also decided to participate in the Asian Qualifiers for the London Olympics, Korean Open and South Asian Games in the upcoming fiscal year. NTA has also decided to conduct various training programs, referee refresher courses and seminars.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama said taekwondo will get the government´s top priority in its support list as taekwondo is the game with highest medal prospects at the international level. He also informed that the proposed Taekwondo Complex project could receive Rs 10 million as the finance ministry is positive about the project.
He also asked NTA to focus on the preparations for the 12th South Asian Games to be held in India and Asian Qualifiers of London Olympics.
Lama lamented that NSC could not support NTA while releasing budget to other national sports associations last week. “NSC releases budget for the proposed programs only. We still can support NTA but it should come up with concrete programs,” said Lama.
He asked all the sports associations to make their financial transaction transparent and lauded the NTA´s move to make its programs public before the beginning of the fiscal year.
