NRB publishes new consumer price index

KATHMANDU, Oct 21: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has published new consumer price index from the first month of the current fiscal year. 



The new consumer price index has increased by 9.5 percent compared with the national consumer index of last year. The price index prepared on the basis of fiscal year 2052-053 seems to maintain 10.4 percent increase. [break]



During the evaluation period, the inflation rate measured according to the new price index comparing with the old index has fallen by 0.9 percent.



According to the central bank, prices of a total of 410 products and services have been collected from 33 market areas against 301 products and services from 21 market areas of the old series.



Similarly, in the new index building process, a provision has been made to collect prices of 154 products in food and alcoholic group and 256 in non-food and alcoholic group.



Of the total 410 products and services included in the index building process, 233 are domestic, 133 are imported and 54 are in both the domestic production and imported group.
