NRB forwards 13-point policy to extend financial access

KATHMANDU, June 1: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has unveiled a 13-point policy to extend financial access to the people.


Inclusive financial access, financial literacy, financial awareness, start-ups in digital technology and promotion of micro, small and medium enterprises are the policies forwarded by the NRB. In addition, the central bank has aimed to focus on promotion of gender-based and environment-friendly banking, sustainable and broad-based economic development, regulatory role related to financial behavior, development of financial infrastructure, partnership and collaboration, data collection, analysis and evaluation, and periodic survey and measurement.

According to a study conducted by the NRB, 67.3 percent of the country’s population has opened their accounts in A, B and C class financial institutions.
