The discussions focused on the need to ensure more coordination between the three levels of government and the need to further improve coordination between the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the Ministry of Federal Affairs, and local bodies. The NPI proposed to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration and the Central Bureau of Statistics to mobilize the ward members for 15 days to facilitate the collection of quality and effective data in all parts of the country.

In response to the proposal, the CBS requested the Ministry of Federal Affairs to mobilize local level resources and ward members for the census. The representatives of both bodies have committed to make correspondence and coordination immediately.

NPI Chairman Khagendra Raj Dhakal said that the census had given an opportunity to look at the situation of Nepal before and after the census. He said that no Nepali should be left out in the census as the development and the policy-making process of Nepal after COVID-19 would be based on the findings of the census.

Chairman Dhakal said that there was a need for further publicity in the data collection of the working class and those who are not in the country due to the foreign employment. He stressed on the need to ensure effective coordination and partnership among all three tiers of the government.
