NCP recommends new provincial governors



 


The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has recommended the names of governors for the seven provinces. The secretariat meeting of NCP on Monday recommended the provincial chiefs which have remained vacant after President Bidya Devi Bhandari relieved the former governors on the recommendation of the council of ministers on Sunday.

Nepal Rastra Bank’s board meeting held this morning has formed an inquiry committee to probe into allegations made against the central bank’s deputy governor Shiba Raj Shrestha. With the formation of the inquiry committee, deputy governor Shrestha has got suspended from his post. 


Case filed against Alam



 


District Attorney's Office at Rautahat has filed a case against suspended lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam on Monday for his alleged involvement in committing several murders in Rautahat district in April 2008. The District Attorney's Office has sought life imprisonment for Alam and ten others under criminal code. 


8 injured in Kavre during clash btween locals, police



A total of eight persons have been injured at Banepa-9, Thakuri Gaun in Kavre during a clash between the police and locals when a dispute erupted over leveling the ground to install an incinerator. 


Indian capital banishes some cars in hope of clearing the air



 


Authorities in the Indian capital on Monday banished from the roads cars with number plates ending in an odd number in a bid to cut hazardous air pollution shrouding the city. The U.S. Embassy air quality index, which measures the concentration of tiny PM 2.5 particles, exceeded 500, indicating serious aggravation of heart and lung disease, and premature mortality in people with existing diseases and the elderly.


Hamilton painting masterpiece with sixth drivers' title



Valtteri Bottas won the battle but Lewis Hamilton won the war, securing his sixth Formula One world championship on Sunday, despite finishing second to his Mercedes teammate at the U.S. Grand Prix. Bottas, the last man with a chance of denying Hamilton another title, needed nothing less a victory at the Circuit of the Americas and did his part collecting his seventh career win and fourth of the season.
