Nomination registration for by-election of local level set for November 2

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: The Election Commission (EC) has finalized the calendar of events for the local level by-elections scheduled for December 1. Nomination registration will take place from 10 AM to 5 PM on November 17, according to EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Sapkota.

The list of candidates will be published by 6 PM on the same day, with the time for filing complaints against candidates set from 10 AM to 3 PM on November 18. 

Spokesperson Sapkota stated that nomination papers and complaints will be reviewed, with decisions made by 5 PM on November 19.

Candidates may decide to withdraw their names between 9 AM and 1 PM on November 20. The final list of candidates will be published between 1 PM and 3 PM on the same day, with election symbols assigned by 5 PM.

Voting is scheduled for December 1, from 7 AM to 5 PM. The commission also announced that the silent period will come into effect after midnight on November 28.
