KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Election Commission (EC) has begun preparations to extend the deadline for candidate nomination registration for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.
As political parties participating in the election have cited a shortage of time to finalize candidates, the EC is preparing to push the nomination registration date back by a few days.

Although a formal decision is yet to be made, an election commissioner said discussions have been held to extend the nomination deadline by a few days.
He said the EC discussed the matter and has shown flexibility as political parties have been making formal and informal requests to extend the nomination period.
The EC stated that if an all-party consensus is reached after consultations with the parties, the deadline could be extended by one or two days.
