The state-owned petroleum monopolist doubled supply of diesel on Friday, as its stock is swelling up in recent days. NOC distributed 1,650,000 liters of diesel throughout the country on Friday, compared to average daily distribution of 800,000 liters in recent weeks.
However, NOC has not increased supply of petrol. It has been providing fuel only to vehicles of emergency use from designated pumps.
NOC has also increased diesel supply quota for Kathmandu Valley. On Friday, it distributed 350,000 liters of diesel in Kathmandu Valley. It had been distributing 200,000 liters a day till Thursday.
"Fuel supply, especially diesel, has improved over the past two weeks," Mukunda Ghimire, spokesperson of NOC, told Republica. "We have increased distribution as supply is increasing in recent days."
Stating that supply of petrol is also increasing, Ghimire said NOC will distribute petrol to private four-wheelers very soon. "After that, we will distribute petrol to two-wheelers," he added.
Meanwhile, NOC has directed its regional depots to increase supply of petroleum in the market accordingly.
Officials, however, said that supply of LP gas has not improved compared to diesel and petrol, as dozens of LP gas bullets are still stranded on the other side of Nepal-India border.
