Koirala said he has held discussions with CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya whose party has been spearheading an anti-election alliance of various 33 political parties. He also claimed that Baidya has assured him that he would make their stance on elections clear after holding a meeting with the constituent parties in the alliance.
Koirala also criticized UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s proposal on trilateral cooperation between India, Nepal and China. “All political forces within the country should work together to build a prosperous Nepal,” he said.
Koirala also urged the people not to believe rumors spread by UCPN (Maoist) and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) that NC is against federalism. He added that it was late NC leader Girija Prasad Koirala who fist signed the agreement on adopting federalism.
Underscoring the need for development, he also urged the parties to remain united against foreign interference. “There is no alternative to peace as the country is lagging far behind in terms of development,” said Koirala.
NC CWC members Dip Kumar Upadhayay, Bal Krishna Khand, Pharmullah Mansur, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, among others, had addressed the convention. The convention will conclude by issuing Lumbini Declaration to guarantee the Muslim community their rights as citizens.
The convention will also discuss the roles the Muslim community can play in the fresh CA election.
