Submitting a 14-point memorandum to Bista, NNIPA General Secretary Dipak Shrestha said that state has not taken concrete steps to develop sports professionally. "Though it has nearly been 70 years that sports gained formality in the country, it is a tragic fact that it has yet to gain professional recognition," Shrestha said.In the memorandum submitted to Bista, NNIPA has demanded to immediate start of preparations for the South Asian Games (SAG), concrete steps to fulfill his commitment of insurance to players, priority to national players in recruitment of volunteer coach in each election constituency, arrangement of round-the-year training to regional and district players.
Similarly, NNIPA has also asked the member secretary to make arragements for water, changing rooms and other basic needs required during training; ensure representation of NNIPA members in the NSC board as per National Sports Policy 2067, ensure representation of players in sports association, discount on medical treatment, transportation and education to NSC identity card holder international players, renovation of old sports infrastructure and construction of new infrastructure, and end to discrimination against players on the basis of political ideology, among others.
Responding to the demands of NNIPA, Member Secretary Bista said that the demands of players were reasonable and he would try to address them at the earliest. "National Sports Council is for every sports person. There will not be monopoly of any political party. I promise to take steps in ensuring bright future of players," Bista told.
NNIPA President Deepak Bista said that addressing the demands of the organization would uplift the standard of Nepali sports. "The newly appointed member secretary (Bista) had promised to bring positive change and we are always ready to join hands with him," he said, adding that the demands of NNIPA must be fulfilled for the development of Nepali sports.
