Nisthuri elected AJA vice-president

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Bishnu Nisthuri has been elected the vice-president of the Asia Journalist Association (AJA) during the Fifth General Assembly in Seoul, Korea on Friday.



Nisthuri, the president of the AJA Nepal chapter and former president of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) was elected unopposed after Cambodia and Bangladesh withdrew their candidacy supporting him.



Nisthuri is the first Nepali to be elected in the AJA executive committee.



The assembly of umbrella organization of 29 journalist associations in Asia, that concluded on Friday, also elected Ivan Lim SIN CHIN of Singapore as the new president. He replaced Lee Sang Kee of South Korea who has been nominated honorary president.



AJA Nepal first vice-president Hemanta Kafle and member Narayan Amrit attended the assembly in which Nepal also presented a report of press situation and a documentary on Lumbini.
