KATHMANDU, Aug. 5: In the wake of the deadly Broad Peak avalanche in Pakistan, the Nimsdai Foundation has launched a special relief fund to support the families of mountain guides who lost their lives in the tragedy.
The Foundation said it established the Broad Peak Guides Family Support Fund to provide financial assistance to the bereaved families despite the profound grief of losing its founder and world-renowned Nepali mountaineer, Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai).

In a statement posted on its official Instagram account, the Foundation said that behind every mountain guide and expedition team member is a family that depends on them, adding that those families are now facing unimaginable loss and hardship.
As part of its long-standing humanitarian mission to assist families affected by major mountaineering disasters, the Foundation appealed to climbers, supporters, and the international community to stand in solidarity with the victims' families during this difficult time.
Recalling Nirmal Purja's humanitarian vision, the statement said: "Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai) always believed that the true success of mountaineering is measured not only by reaching the summit, but by how many lives are positively touched along the journey."
The Foundation urged people to honor Nimsdai's legacy by turning compassion into action, calling on supporters to carry forward his ideals, leadership, and humanitarian spirit through meaningful and practical assistance rather than words alone.
