PARSA, Aug 7: Nepal Communist Party Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has assured that the Judiciary will not remain headless for a long time and that the new Chief Justice will be appointed to the post very soon.

Chairperson Dahal who reached Birgunj on Tuesday to address the national conclave of the district and municipal level chapter of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday, has said so.

Dahal said that the complaints field at the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee and its decision are all that determine the appointment of the Chief Justice.

“I had also talked to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli about this issue only yesterday,” stated Dahal, adding that the meeting also dwelled on the formation of other constitutional commissions in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.”

“We had envisaged the supremacy of the Parliament when we formed the PHSC. The appointment of the Chief Justice depends on the complaints field at the PHSC and the decision made by it,” said Dahal.

There are two opinions – the nominee recommended by the Constitutional Council should be endorsed by the parliament while the other is that the PHSC should retain the supreme power to decide the fate of Chief Justice based on the complaints field at it.

We stressed the supremacy of the PHSC.
