KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Nepali Congress (NC) central working committee member and election candidate for constituency 5 of Kathmandu Narahari Acharya has said that new Constituent Assembly (CA) would promulgate a new constitution at any cost.

Addressing a function at Baluwatar on Saturday, Acharya also claimed that this would be the last CA election in the country. “Many people have termed the upcoming polls as a second CA election. But I would say this is the last CA election,” he said.[break]

Acharya said since the new CA would produce a new constitution there would be no need for another CA. “The new CA would produce a new constitution as political parties have almost reached consensus on issues relating to federalism and the system of governance,” he said. He also appealed all to help make NC the largest party in the new CA.

Acharya said the new CA would deliver a new constitution within a year of election. Addressing the function, Dr Devendra Raj Pandey, Shrawan Mukarung and Dr Gyanu Pandey, among others, wished NC victory in the elections.
