NEPSE sheds 9.99 points, daily turnover marginally increases to Rs 8.83 billion

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday declined by 9.99 points to close at 2,738.06 points.


The secondary market surged by 16 points in the pre-opening session and opened at 2,764.86 points for the day’s trading. The index then plunged to the day’s low at 2,712.55 points in the first eight minutes. In the next two hours, the index rose to as high as 2,742.71 points and remained stable for over an hour.  The market lost around five points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, declined by 4.20 points. The daily turnover slightly increased to Rs 8.83 billion from Rs 8.54 billion on Thursday.


Only three groups gained in the intraday transaction, with trading group adding the largest of 383.63 points, followed by development bank witnessing a surge of 265.15 points in its index. Out of the 10 losers, life insurance plunged by the largest of 184.14 points.


Among the individual companies, only 63 were gainers while 178 lost in their market values. Excel Development Bank had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 343.14 million.


Janaki Finance Company Limited was recorded as the topmost loser. Five companies including Bishal Bazar Company, Corporate Development Bank Limited, Sindhu Bikash Bank, Green Development Bank and Saptakoshi Development Bank were the biggest gainers of 10 percent of their market values.
