KATHMANDU, Dec 12: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday gained 16.96 points to close at 1,902.27 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,885.31 points. It lost around six points within the first few minutes of the trading started for the day. However, the index recovered 14 points to hit as high as 1,893.38 points before plunging again to the day’s low at 1,868.77 points. In the next one and a half hours, the market regained 34 points to close for the day.

The daily turnover amount stood at Rs 1.366 billion, up from Rs 1.103 billion on Sunday. In the intraday trading, a total of 158 companies lost in their market value while 41 companies gained in their share prices.
The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chips companies added 5.57 points. The banking sub-index dropped 7.59 points while the rest of the 12 sub-groups had their market index inclined up.
In individual companies, Nabil Bank Limited posted the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 213.24 million. Summit Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the top gainer while Global IME Balanced Fund-1 lost the highest percent of its market value.
