KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday nosedived 53.63 points to close at 2,695.93 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,749.57 points and reached the day’s high at 2,781.71 points in just 12 minutes of trading. The index however went into a straight fall in the remaining trading hours and hit the day’s low at 2,687.54 points before the last eight minutes. The market recovered around eight points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also decreased by 8.91 points. The daily turnover further declined to Rs 10.51 billion from Rs 12.24 billion on Thursday.
Among individual companies, 31 were recorded as gainers whereas 209 were the losers.
Out of the 13 groups, mutual funds by adding 0.17 points in its index stood as a single gainer. Of the losers, hotels and tourism shed the biggest of 213.34 points. A total of six groups had their indices decline by three-digit points.
Goodwill Finance Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 523.11 million. Peoples Hydropower Company Limited and Mai Khola Hydropower Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of their market values. Super Mai Hydropower Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
