KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday dropped heavily by 31.80 points to close at 2,045.44 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,077.24 points and inched up about one point in the first minutes of trading. Soon the market went into a downswing in the remaining trading hours. The market remained low and stable for one hour between 1:15 pm and 2:15 pm.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also fell by a notable 6.29 points. The daily turnover however inclined slightly to Rs 2.157 billion from Rs 2.091 billion on Monday.
Only the mutual fund was the gainer in the intraday trading. Out of 12 losers, manufacturing and processing posted the biggest loss of 242.70 points, which was followed by life insurance, non-life insurance, and hotels and tourism in terms of losing three-digit points.
Among individual companies, the market values of 201 companies saw a decline. On the other hand, only 20 companies registered gains on the day.
Himalayan Distillery Limited, with turnover of Rs 205.594 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. The company was also marked as the topmost loser with a fall in its market value by 7.69 percent. Emerging Nepal Limited by adding 5.18 percent to its market price was recorded as the highest gainer.
