Nepse loses 13.68 points, daily turnover drops to Rs 847.02 million

KATHMANDU, April 26: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday fell 13.68 points to close at 1,892 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,905.68 points, hitting the day’s high at 1,913.18 points in the first half an hour of trading. The market remained stable almost for the next two hours before it took the downward move to close for the day.

All 13 trading groups were losers today. The life insurance index shed the highest of 56.82 points.

In the intraday trading, 172 listed companies were losers, while 40 companies added to their market values. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chips companies also slid down 2.11 points.

The daily turnover amount was recorded at Rs 847.02 million, down from Rs 885.57 million on Tuesday. Due to the low confidence of share investors, the market has been posting a poor transaction record for the past two weeks.   

Among individual companies, Shivam Cements recorded the biggest share transaction of Rs 70.16 million. Sunrise Bluechip Fund was the biggest loser, while Janautthan Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha gained the highest percentage of its market price.
