NEPSE jumps 31.48 points on the first day trade after Dashain; daily turnover drops to Rs 3.06 billion

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) increased 31.48 points on Tuesday, the first trading day after the Dashain holidays.


The secondary market opened at 2,668.18 points and escalated 17 points in the first seven minutes, followed by a decline of 15 points in the next half an hour. The market then went to an upward graph and gained 29 points in around three hours of trading.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increased by 5.90 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 3.06 billion from Rs 3.76 billion on the day before the market closed for the Dashain holidays.


Among individual companies, 205 were gainers whereas 32 companies were recorded as losers.


Only manufacturing and processing was the single losing group in intraday trading. Of the 12 gainers, finance and life insurance were successful to add three- digit gains of 149.61 points and 130.38 points, respectively.  


Goodwill Finance Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 180.50 million. Janaki Finance Company Limited and Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited stood as the topmost gainers. Mid Solu Hydropower Limited was recorded as the biggest loser.
