KATHMANDU, June 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday increased marginally by 7.27 points to close at 1,939.61 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,932.33 points and dropped to the day’s low at 1,920.95 points in the first half an hour of the trading. But the market reached as high as 1,946.89 points, before it shed around seven points to close for the day.
According to stockbrokers, the market bounced back after Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat in a public program spoke about the government favoring to boost the stock market.
Nepse stretches winning run with record weekly turnover
In the intraday trading, 95 listed companies were successful in adding to their market values, while 114 companies registered as losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chips companies lost 1.05 points.
Four out of the 13 trading groups including hotels and tourism, manufacturing and processing, hydropower and banking had their market prices declined. Among nine gainers, non-life insurance, life insurance and trading witnessed an increase of three-digit points.
The daily turnover amount slightly declined to Rs 2.305 billion from Rs 2.368 billion on Wednesday.
Among individual companies, IGI Prudential Insurance Limited had turnover of its shares worth Rs 102.68 million topped in terms of the transaction amount. Likewise, Dolti Power Company Limited was the biggest gainer, while River Falls Power Limited lost the highest percent of its market price.
