KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday increased marginally by 4.19 points to close at 2,630.71 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,626.31 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,608.1 points in the first 45 minutes. The market then went through a series of fluctuations and hit the day’s high at 2,638.97 points when only half an hour of the trading time was left. The market shed around eight points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
NEPSE inches up 6.94 points; daily turnover increases slightly...
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increased by 2.30 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 5.32 billion from Rs 5.20 billion on Tuesday. The government declared a public holiday on Wednesday to celebrate Christmas.
Four groups - trading, banking, microfinance and investment - were the gainers, with trading posting the largest gain of 106.70 points. Out of the nine losers, the development bank shed 136.96 points, the largest of all.
Among the individual companies, 70 were gainers while 163 were registered as losers. Prabhu Bank Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 507.78 million.
Two companies including Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Support Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha were recorded as the topmost gainers. Three companies—Corporate Development Bank Limited, Narayani Development Bank Limited and Sindhu Bikash Bank - witnessed the largest fall of 10 percent in their market prices.
