KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday added 29.47 points to close at 2,045.45 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,015.98 points and gained around 12 points in the first half an hour of trading. In the next two minutes, the market slid by a marginal two points while the index went to an upward graph and hit the day’s high at 2,048.26 points in the last half an hour. In the remaining period, the market shed around three points and closed for the day.
Nepse up for a fifth consecutive week
The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also gained 4.30 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 1.51 billion, an increase from Rs 1.332 billion Tuesday.
All the 13 trading groups added to their market values. Life insurance earned the biggest of 276.29 points, followed by non-life insurance with 232.22 points.
Among individual companies, the market values of 204 companies escalated. On the other hand, 20 companies were registered as losers.
Ghorahi Cement Industry Limited, with a turnover of Rs 75.765 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent whereas Citizens Super 30 Mutual Fund lost 7.42 percent in its market price and was recorded the top loser.
