KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Nepal’s stock market declined for the third consecutive trading day on Tuesday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index falling 5.30 points to close at 2,594.27.
The market saw a rise in trading activity despite the decline, with total turnover reaching Rs 4.10 billion, up from Rs 3.23 billion on the previous trading day.
Turnover shrinks as Nepse falls for second straight day
Share prices of 187 companies declined, while 78 companies gained and 12 remained unchanged.
Sarbottam Paints Industries and Crest Micro Life Insurance were among the biggest gainers, with both companies hitting positive circuits.
Dhaulagiri Laghubitta recorded the steepest decline, with its share price falling 10.07 percent.
Among the sectoral indices, only Development Bank and Non-Life Insurance posted gains, while the remaining sectors closed lower. Hydropower stocks accounted for the largest share of turnover, contributing around Rs 2.49 billion, or 60.66 percent, of the total trading volume.
