The band was nearing the end of their Australian tour with a show scheduled on April 26 when the earthquake struck Nepal on April 25.Sharing the band's thoughts during that moment, front man Amrit Gurung says, "We even thought of canceling the show but we decided to go ahead. We also stuck to the original plan and went ahead with the shows in Tokyo and in Dubai. Instead of taking the easy way out and canceling the shows, we used it as an opportunity to generate awareness and funds for the national disaster."
According to the press release, the shows in Melbourne and Tokyo had extra magic for both the band and those in the audience. The concert was truly a tribute to those who had lost their lives and was a beacon of hope for those who survived.
The Melbourne show raised AUD 4,000 and it later increased to AUD 20,000 with added fundraising.
Nepathya has also contributed to providing relief fund by donating Rs 500,000 to the PM Disaster Relief Fund.
Rs 1.1 million of the raised funds will be used to support children who have been orphaned in the disaster, said Amar Gurung of Tamu Dhin, the show organizer in Japan. Tamu Dhin has already donated money to Dhuseni Primary School in Dhading, and Sheetal Danda Primary School in Gorkha.
