KATHMANDU, Nov 4: The folk-rock band Nepathya is set to perform for its hometown audience this Friday at the Pokhara Stadium after a three-year break — this time joining hands with Nepal’s sports community.

The band’s upcoming concert, themed “Nepathya for Sports,” aims to promote cricket in Nepal. The event will also support the jersey launch of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) franchise team Pokhara Avengers. Nepathya hopes the performance will help connect a large number of music lovers with sporting activities.

Fans who purchase Pokhara Avengers jerseys will receive free entry to the concert. The first 1,000 “early bird” jerseys, made available Thursday evening at a discounted price, sold out within 13 hours. Organizers plan to release an additional 2,000 jerseys at the stadium gate on Friday morning. Proceeds from jersey sales will go toward distributing cricket kits to community schools across Gandaki Province.

Expressing happiness about performing with a new social purpose, lead vocalist Amrit Gurung said, “At a time when the country is gripped by crisis and frustration, it’s a great privilege for artists and athletes to come together to spread positivity. I sincerely thank the players and the Pokhara audience for making this possible.”

The concert, to be held under the open sky, will be managed by Nepalaya, which has long collaborated with Nepathya. “We’ve prioritized both professionalism and social responsibility for this show,” said Kiran Krishna Shrestha, leader of the Nepalaya team.

Amrit Gurung will be joined on stage by Dhurba Lama (drums), Subin Shakya (bass), Niraj Gurung (guitar), Shanti Rayamajhi (madal), and Dinesh Raj Regmi (keyboard).

As usual, tickets can be purchased online via Nepathya’s official website — www.nepathya.com.np. Each ticket comes with a jersey priced at Rs 1,499, while students can purchase theirs at a discounted rate of Rs 999.

Over its three-and-a-half-decade journey, Nepathya has not only entertained generations through music but also fulfilled social responsibilities — from peace campaigns like “Sundar Shanta Nepal” and “Education for Peace” to humanitarian efforts such as “Nepathya for Disabled” and “Nepathya for All.”
