Due to COVID-19 pandemic, almost every sector including Nepali movie industry got stuck. Cinema halls have been closed for almost two years now. However, in this time of crisis, Nepali movie ‘Ek’ is planning for the digital release.
Nepali movie ‘Bulbul’ to represent Nepal in 92nd Academy Awards
On Tuesday, OSR Digital Nepal unveiled the digital (motion) poster of the movie 'Ek'. The film, directed by Manoj Pandit, will be screened on digital platforms from October 7, 2021 (Gathasthapana). A digital release is a new experiment for Nepali movie industry. The song, 'Tadka-Tadka' of the movie has already reached 21,991 views on YouTube.
“Our world is in digital era. Many of the world's largest cinema industries have gone digital,” said Manoj Pandit, director of the movie. “Someone had to start releasing movie in digital platform in Nepal. We have took the risk with our movie, Ek.”
The movie’s plot revolves around various conspiracies and external interventions in Nepali politics. Vishal Pokhrel is the lead actor who portrays the role of spy in the movie. The movie is based on his struggle against those who are against the country.
Though the movie is based on Madhesi issue, it is shot in Terai region as well as Himalayan region of Dolpa. Vishal, the led actor of the movie described the film as one of the "second and most challenging innings" of his film career. According to the director Pandit, who has already made famous political boundaries like Greater Nepal, Dasdhunga and Vadhshala, this movie is a 'spy thriller genre'. 'Ek' is Pandit's seventh film.
The movie also includes various action sequences. The action director of the movie is PramodKhadka. Pramod Agrahari is another lead actor in the movie. Vishwant Pokharel is a child actor in the movie. The film is produced by Atma Guragain and Sofia Thapa under the banner of Script Factory.
