Nepali students urged to stay indoors except for essential activities amid violent protests across Bangladesh

KATHMANDU, July 17: The Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has requested students not to leave their residences and hostels except for essential work.

KATHMANDU, July 17: The Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has urged Nepali students studying there not to leave their residences and hostels except for essential works.


Issuing a notice on Wednesday, the Embassy urged students to contact the Embassy if the college administration directs them to go to a safe place from the hostel or if the place where they are staying is deemed insecure. The Embassy has also requested the students to stay in regular contact with their colleges.

The students in Bangladesh are staging protests against the reservation system in government jobs. So far, six students have been killed during protests. Following this, the Government of Bangladesh has closed the schools and universities until further notice.
