Nepali artists off to Bangladesh

Under the leadership of the chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and veteran artist Ragini Upadhyay, nine Nepali artists have left for Bangladesh on Sunday. They will participate in the Nepal Art Week being organized in the capital of Bagladesh, Dhaka. The event commenced on Monday.

Under the leadership of the chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and veteran artist Ragini Upadhyay, nine Nepali artists have left for Bangladesh on Sunday. They will participate in the Nepal Art Week being organized in the capital of Bagladesh, Dhaka. The event commenced on Monday. 


The team of artists  comprises Ramesh  Dhoj Shrestha, SC Suman,  Sushma Rajbhandari,  Ganesh  Kumar GC, Chanda Shrestha, Ranju Yadav, Manoj Tamang, and Kancha Kanji Bhasima. Shrestha, Suman, and Rajbhandari are council members whereas GC and Chanda Shrestha are assembly members of NAFA.

Yadav will represent Mithia traditional art, while Tamang and Bhasima will showcase contemporary art and handicraft in Bangladesh. 


According to Suman, head of traditional art department at the academy, the art week was organized according to an agreement between NAFA and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy two years ago.  The art week is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Altogether 57 artists’ art pieces will be showcased in the art week.
