Nepal to take part in Asian squash after 36 years

KATHMANDU, April 24: Nepal is set to take part in the Asian Squash Championship after 36 years.



Two players including Amrit Thapa and Arhanta Keshar Singh will represent Nepal in the 19th edition of the championship to be held in Chennai, India from April 26 to 30.



Nepal's last participation in the Asian championship was in 1981 which was held in Karachi, Pakistan. 



Nepal Squash Rackets Association's General Secretary Suresh Gurung informed that the players to take part in the championship were chosen on the basis of their performances in the Seventh National Games. Amrit and Arhant had claimed gold and silver respectively. Altogether 17 Asian countries will take part in the championship.  



National Sports Council (NSC)'s Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista bade farewell to the Chennai-bound Nepali team on Sunday. The team will leave on Tuesday.
