Simha, Magar into PRC Open Squash semifinals

KATHMANDU, March 9: Nepal’s number one ranked squash player Arhant Simha and number two ranked Amrit Thapa Magar have reached the semifinals of the PRC Open Squash Tournament at New Center Court in Kathmandu on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, March 9: Nepal’s number one ranked squash player Arhant Simha and number two ranked Amrit Thapa Magar have reached the semifinals of the PRC Open Squash Tournament at New Center Court in Kathmandu on Sunday.


In a tournament hosted by the Nepal Squash Rackets Association (NSRA), Simha upstaged British Army’s Paul Hartley whereas Magar overcame Army’s Pankaj Rai, both 3-0, in straight sets respectively. Likewise, British Army’s Chris O’Brien and Nick McBreth defeated Prabin Bir Singh

In the women’s category, Bhavana Sunuwar is leading the round-robin first stage with nine points. Sunuwar has won three out of three matches so far, followed by Bipana Blon in the second position. Similarly, Krishna Thapa occupies third spot with three points.


The semifinal matches of men's open will be held on Monday. Simha will face O’Brien whereas Magar will face McGreth in the semis.


Men's open event was participated by 25 players including nine from the Royal Signals British Army. Masters open was participated by 19 Players including 3 from the Royal Signals British Army. A total of 41 men and 6 women including 10 from the British Army participated in the event.
