KATHMANDU, May 28: Two days after he was sworn in, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal shifted to his official residence at Baluwatar on Wednesday evening. [break]
The PM seemed comfortable with everything at his new residence, except for the ´luxury´ bed used by his predecessor Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
THE UNUSUAL VISITOR
Nepal had ordered the officials to remove the bed before he reached Baluwatar. The bed was imported by the Maoist prime minister had cost over Rs 110,000. The news of buying the bed by Dahal had hit the headlines.
"The staffers have arranged a normal bed available at the office to replace the lavish one. No special order has been made to buy another one so far," prime minister´s press aide Bishnu Rijal told myrepublica.com.
According to officials, no one is using the bed at present and it is yet to decide about where to send the furniture.
Dahal, who is also chairman of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) that fought 10-year insurgency advocating for establishing proletariats´ rule in the country, was much criticized for being too lavish after taking the office.
Staffers at the office organized a function to welcome the newly-elected Prime Minister Nepal.
