Nepal’s coronavirus case tally nears 90,000 with 2,440 new cases in past 24 hours

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: Nepal’s coronavirus case tally has neared 90,000 after the confirmation of 2,440 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) across the country in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: Nepal’s coronavirus case tally has neared 90,000 after the confirmation of 2,440 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) across the country in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Monday.


While providing the country’s national updates on the COVID-19 situation through a virtual media briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the health ministry, said that a total of 89,263 cases of coronavirus have been reported from various parts of the country as of today.

According to Gautam, 1,133 additional COVID-19 patients were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s coronavirus recovery tally to 65,202.


At least 13,781 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were conducted at various laboratories across the country in the past 24 hours.


There are currently 23,507 active cases of the coronavirus across the country while 4,033 people are staying in quarantine facilities.


With 19 more people dying of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the country has seen 554 deaths linked to COVID-19 as of today.


This is the highest number of people dying of coronavirus in a single day after the country confirmed the first coronavirus case in late January this year.
