KATHMANDU, Sept 10: With 1,246 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, Nepal’s national COVID-19 case tally crossed the 50,000 mark on Thursday.
At a virtual press meet, Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that 1,246 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID) were recorded during 11,144 PCR tests conducted at various labs across the country.
“With this, the number of people infected with COVID-19 has soared to 50,465,” Gautam said. The Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 572 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

According to Spokesperson Gautam, 1,818 persons who had earlier tested positive for COVID-19 were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours.
“With this, the number of people to be discharged after recovery across the country has climbed to 35,700,” he said.
Five deaths attributed to coronavirus were recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s COVID-19 related deaths to 317.
There are currently 14,448 active cases of COVID-19 across the country.
